This course provides a foundational and applied understanding of childhood trauma and its developmental impacts. Focusing on trauma-informed leadership, it examines the role of relational healing, emotional regulation, and co-regulation within residential and supported settings. Leaders will gain insight into how traumatisation differs from trauma and how to guide their teams in delivering recovery-focused care.

The objectives of this course are for participants to:
Differentiate between trauma and traumatisation and understand their developmental implications.
Recognise trauma symptoms and survival strategies in behaviour.
Understand the importance of attuned, consistent relationships in recovery.
Reflect on the role of leadership in modelling emotional regulation and safety.
Support staff in responding to trauma-related behaviours with empathy and boundaries.
Promote team reflection on secondary trauma, vicarious impact, and self-care.
