This training session addresses the protection of vulnerable adults from abuse and exploitation. Participants will learn about safeguarding legislation, risk assessment frameworks, and effective reporting procedures to ensure the welfare of adults at risk.

  • This training aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to protect vulnerable adults from abuse and exploitation. It will focus on recognising the signs and indicators of abuse, understanding the factors that increase vulnerability, and exploring legal and ethical responsibilities in safeguarding. Participants will learn effective strategies for responding to concerns, implementing preventative measures, and fostering a culture of safety, dignity, and respect in their professional settings.

  • The objectives of this course are for participants to:

    • Define and understand the concept of safeguarding adults and the types of abuse and exploitation that vulnerable adults may experience.

    • Explore the vulnerabilities and risk factors that may increase an adult's susceptibility to abuse and exploitation, including age, disability, mental health issues, and social isolation.

    • Provide   guidance on responding to disclosures of abuse or suspicions of abuse, including how to listen effectively, support the adult, and take appropriate action to safeguard their welfare.

    • Discuss the legal and ethical frameworks for safeguarding adults, including relevant  legislation, policies, and procedures.

    • Explore the  roles and responsibilities of different agencies and professionals in safeguarding adults, including how to work collaboratively and share   information effectively.

    • Provide   practical tools and strategies for conducting risk assessments, safeguarding planning, and ongoing monitoring to ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable adults.

    • Foster a culture of vigilance, empowerment, and respect for the rights and dignity of vulnerable adults, promoting their autonomy and independence while ensuring   their protection from harm and abuse.
