This course aims to provide participants with the knowledge and strategies to effectively respond to child exploitation, including child sexual exploitation (CSE), child criminal exploitation (CCE), and child drug exploitation (CDE), within residential children's homes. It will cover topics such as identifying signs of exploitation, understanding the dynamics of gangs, and implementing appropriate safeguarding measures. Participants will learn how to support vulnerable young people, collaborate with external agencies, and implement preventive strategies to protect children from exploitation.

  • The aim of this course is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively respond to various forms of child exploitation, including Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE), Child Domestic Exploitation (CDE), and gang-related activities. The training will provide a comprehensive understanding of the different forms of exploitation, focusing on the specific risks, indicators, and impact each has on young people.
    Participants will learn to identify the warning signs of each form of exploitation, how to recognise when a child or young person is vulnerable, and how these risks may manifest in different environments. The course will explore the complex factors that contribute to exploitation, including societal, family, and peer influences, and will emphasise the need for a multi-agency approach to safeguard young people effectively.
    The training will also cover practical intervention strategies, including how to engage with young people who may be reluctant to disclose their experiences, and how to support them in breaking free from exploitative situations. Emphasis will be placed on trauma-informed care, safeguarding measures, and building trust with young people to ensure their safety and well-being.
    By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the skills and tools to identify, respond to, and intervene in cases of child exploitation, ensuring that young people are protected from harm and provided with the support they need to recover and thrive.

  • The objectives of this course are for participants to:

    • Understanding the different forms of child exploitation, including Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE), and Child Drug Exploitation (CDE).

    • Recognising the signs and indicators of exploitation within residential children's homes.

    • Learning strategies for identifying and addressing gang-related activities and their impact on vulnerable children.

    • Developing effective response protocols and procedures for safeguarding children at risk of exploitation.

    • Building awareness of referral pathways and partnership working with external agencies to support exploited children.

    • Enhancing staff knowledge and skills in preventing, identifying, and responding to child exploitation incidents.
